Mark S. Marty

Mark S. Marty, Organist, joined the Madison Square Presbyterian Church Music Staff in 2008. A San Antonio native, he is now in his 60th year as a church organist. He holds degrees in Pipe Organ Performance (Texas Tech) and Choral Conducting (Texas State), along with certifications from the American Guild of Organists and a teaching certificate in Choral/Vocal Music from UTSA.

Mark spent over 30 years as an organist at his previous church and taught choral and instrumental music for 45 years in public schools and universities, including Trinity University, Our Lady of the Lake, and UIW. He also worked as a music director at Sea World and performed in a variety band as a keyboardist and vocalist.

His passions include jazz piano, improvisation, Asian art and culture, bonsai, gardening, and restoring cars. Mark often performs with his wife Laura, a professional flutist and music director. They have four adult children and a grandson. Serving the Madison Square community remains the highlight of Mark’s musical journey.
