The mission committee is made up of individuals with different spiritual gifts, but we all have a similar passion to do as Christ said and “feed his sheep”. We do this in a number of different ways. We work in missions within the church, in the local San Antonio area, and throughout the world. We become involved with each of these outreaches because someone at the church has a passion, felt called to a specific spiritual gift.

Angel Tree

This year, our church family can help a family in need at Christmas with food, clothing, toys, and household items.

The family selected by House of Neighborly Service, a multi-service, nonprofit organization sponsored by the Presbyterian Church, bringing hope to the Westside of San Antonio since 1917, is the family of Wilfredo, a single Dad who works irregularly and resides with his parents, sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews, as well as a younger sister.

The Mission Committee will be setting up the Angel Tree and asking for donations for this family. Each ornament will represent a donation. Please make this Christmas a time of giving!

Please email or call me with questions or donations.

Dear friends and family,

This year has been such a wonderful year for me. How? Here's the Reader's Digest version:

Feb 6, 2011: 9:00pm PACKERS WIN THE SUPERBOWL!!!
9:30pm I injury my knee at a house fire and spend the rest of the night in ER
                       Bad news-torn ACL
Good new- it was after Superbowl!

Mar 10, 2011: ACL reconstructive surgery

Okay, I'm sure you are beginning to wonder how this is going to get better. Keep reading...  I feel so blessed because....

*Mom was here with me for the surgery
*Audrey's mom served as my chauffer until I was able to drive again
*I was able to spend the entire summer with my son, Jordan, who, bless his heart, spent countless hours each week with me at physical therapy, offering encouragement, assisting with exercises, and keeping me motivated
*I injured my knee which was easily repaired (Thank you, Dr Chance!!!!!), much better than a back or burns
*After 6 months of injury leave(with pay), I will be returning to work in early Sept

Do I need to go on?

I have always enjoyed working with Habitat for Humanity (HFH) and at this time in my life where I am so extremely blessed, I would like to do more for those in need. My recovery was facilitated by having a decent home to live in. Not everyone is so fortunate. I have decided to join a HFH work team going to Haiti at the end of Sept. There I will work beside those living in the poorest country in the western hemisphere, helping to give them a decent, affordable place to live.

Please visit my Habitat Web page, where you can learn more about my trip:
http://www.habitat.org/cd/gv/participant/participant.aspx?pid=15443757

I am raising money to support my team's work. Donations can be made through my Habitat web page or given directly to me and I will get them to Habitat.

I recently learned that I will be have the opportunity to join the Carter Work Project in Haiti on November 5-12, 2011.  To help me raise funds for this trip and to learn more about it, please click here.

Thanks for helping me build houses and hope in Haiti!

Lea

“The Spirit’s presence is shown in some way in each person for the good of all. The Spirit gives one person a message full of wisdom, while to another person the same Spirit gives a message full of knowledge. One and the same Spirit gives faith to one person, while to another person he gives the power to heal. The Spirit gives one person the power to work miracles; to another the gift of speaking God’s message; and to yet another the ability to tell the difference between gifts that come from the spirit and those that do not. To one person he gives the ability to speak in strange tongues, and to another he gives the ability to explain what is said. But it is one and the same spirit who does all this; as he wishes, he gives a different gift to each person.” (1 Corinthians 12: 7-11)

Listen for where God is calling you and your gifts and know that there is a place for you at this church, at Christ’s table.
