Easter in the Park Helpers Needed!
Each year we have a great time on Easter morning in Madison Square park, across from the church.
We have, what we like to call, our "Somewhat" Sunrise Service because we have it at a civil hour 8:50 a.m. After the service we have all sorts of activities: craft tables, poney rides, a petting zoo, face painters, baloon animals, Easter Egg hunt and more!
We need your help! Would you like to volunteer to make a craft at a table? Or help painting faces. We need LOTS of filled Easter eggs for the hunt. If you would like to help contact Pastor Kenny, kennyd@msqpc.org, or Linda Charlton, lmcharlton@aol.com.
Adult Sunday School
The adult class that meets in the Church Parlor ("How My Profession Affects My Profession") will not meet this coming Sunday (March 28th), which is Palm Sunday, or the following Sunday (April 4th), which is Easter Sunday. The series will resume on Sunday, April 11th, with Catherine B.and Tom C. as the speakers.
The speakers on March 21st will be Ken S. and Lea W.
The speakers on March 14th will be Lyn M. & Beth W.
Calling all volunteers!
All are welcome!
MSPC participates in the Day and Night Fiesta parades, on April 23 and 24, and selling tickets, setting up and taking down chairs at the parade site.
The profit we make from the sale of the parade tickets goes exclusively to mission trips, for scholarships and for in-kind gifts to the mission organizations sponsoring our mission trips.
This is a labor intensive but profitable venture. Labor is required only for a limited periods of time.
For the Friday day parade, April 23rd, we need volunteers from 8 a.m. till about 11:00 am. We'll be taking chairs to the parade site. You can either stay for the parade, or go your merry way until about 3 p.m. when we return to take down the chairs and return to church.
For the Saturday night parade, April 24th, volunteers arrive at the church about 4:30 p.m., returning to the parade site about 10:30 p.m., to return chairs to the church, finishing about 12:30 a.m.
We need all the volunteers we can get!
Please volunteer to help with one or both of the parades!
And volunteers can enjoy the parade for free! (FYI, Parade tickets are $10/ticket.)
Please call or email Rebecca B., 379-6266, rlbak@grandecom.net; Micaela R., mreznicek@sbcglobal.net; or Jim B., BerbigliaJ@aol.com, for more information and to volunteer!
Thanks!

The Austin College A Cappella Choir
Will perform at Madison Square on Monday April 12 at 7:30 p.m. as part of their Spring Tour. Over the years Madison Square has both sent many students to Austin College and had many alumni as members. We hope you can attend the concert. Like Madison Square, Austin College, has a long history of wonderful music. We will also need help with both feeding and housing the students the night of the concert. If you can either help with the meal or provide housing for either two or four students for the night of Monday, April 12, please contact Cynda R.or on her cell phone at 210 367 8128. Your hospitality will be much appreciated!
HI! The MSPC Mission Committee 2010 will be meet Sunday, March 28th,
immediately after worship in the church fellowship hall. Bring your lunch.
If you're interested in Mission and Outreach, please join us.
What mission and ministries are you participating in that you would like MSPC to know about.
We'll be discussing mission priorities for 2010. I'd like to discuss how MSPC can be involved with the immigration dilemma our country is experiencing.
We will discuss Betty, our church secretary, who confronts the need of homeless who come to our doors daily. Can we help Betty with this in any way?
How can MSPC be involved with mission in our community as well as in the world?
This will be our first meeting of 2010 and we want you there.
Thanks! Rebecca B., Mission Chair

From the SA Express News - Jasmine L. Martin
Eleven women, representing the worlds of sports, creative arts, higher education and other fields, will make up the 2010 inductees to the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame. They were chosen, according to founder Dr. Gloria Floyd, for their effort, leadership and contributions to San Antonio and the larger community.
"I must say that they are all, in their own right, very outstanding," Floyd said. "They are the top minds and contributors in their fields and are individually humble and impressive at the same time."
The induction ceremony, which is sold out, will take place during a brunch beginning at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at The Bright Shawl, 819 Augusta.
The 2010 Hall of Fame class includes:
• Jenny C., athletics. Executive director of the NCAA Final Four for San Antonio Sports. A college basketball player, she was the first woman inducted into the University of the Incarnate Word Sports Hall of Fame.
Cleaning for a Reason
If you know any woman currently undergoing chemo, please pass the word to her that there is a cleaning service that provides FREE housecleaning - 1 time per month for 4 months while she is in treatment. All she has to do is sign up and have her doctor fax a note confirming the treatment. Cleaning for a Reason will have a participating maid service in her zip code area arrange for the service.

This organization serves the entire USA and currently has 547 partners to help these women. It's our job to pass the word and let them know that there are people out there that care. Be a blessing to someone and pass this information along.
The PEACE initiative (acronym for Putting an End to Abuse through Community Efforts) is sponsoring Jaclyn Friedman who will be speaking about her new book. The event is April 11 from 7pm until 10pm. at MSPC.

From the Deacons
It has come to the attention of the Deacons that there may be a need or desire for a Caregivers Support Group. If you would be interested in such a group, please contact Betty or at (210) 226-6254 and give her your contact information. Thank you. Susan
Congratulations to Rev. Dr. Sam Lanham
Congratulations to the Rev. Dr. Sam Lanham III. Dr. Lanham received the Distinguished Alumnus Award this year from Schreiner University given in "recognition and honor of former students who have gone on to prominent success in their lives and careers after graduation." Sam is trained both as an attorney and a minister. He served as a pastor in Galveston before accepting a call to St. Philip Presbyterian in Houston. In 1981 he returned to the school where he was educated to become an associate professor at Schreiner and minister of Memorial Presbyterian Church in Fredericksburg.
Dr. Lanham will be honored April 17 at the Tribute to Schreiner Legends banquet
April 17.
Thank You!!
A great big thanks to all the MSPC family for the cards, calls and good wishes. They are certainly reassuring me that out of sight is not out of mind. My daughter enjoys getting the mail in each day to see what fun we find.
I continue to feel well. My doc says I am in the top 10% in the recovery chain.
Thanks to Betty, I receive a CD each week and can hear the whole service. Of course, I find myself singing along with the choir.
