I just took the Clinton Foundation Climate Quiz and I am no longer in
the dark about climate change. Plus, for every quiz taker, $2 will be
donated toward the purchase of 20,000 solar powered flashlights -
providing energy efficient light to the people without access to
electricity living in camps in Haiti.

Parade Chair help
As I'm sure you've read, our church sells tickets to the fiesta parades each year. We still need volunteers for both the day and night parade, but if you can't set up chairs there are ways you can help. We will be meeting at the church on Thursday, April 22 at 6pm to load the folding chairs onto the trailer. This will make it easier for the early morning volunteers that set up the tickets. We will be unloading the chairs from the trailer on Sunday, April 25 right after worship. Come carry a few chairs and make the work lighter for the night parade crew. Lastly, we are in need of people that have minivans to drive the volunteers to and from the parade chair site. Can you do any of these jobs? If you have any questions or want to volunteer, please contact Micaela R.
American Guild of Organists
The Alamo Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and Travis Park United Methodist Church will present "The Great Eighteen Chorales of J.S. Bach" on Sunday, April 18 at 4 pm. Eighteen organists will play the chorales on the beautiful Helmutt Wolff Tracker Action Pipe Organ at Travis Park United Methodist, 230 E. Travis. Dr. David Heller will present commentary and slides for each of the chorales. Our Organist, Mark Marty, CAGO, will play "I will not forsake the Lord!"
The Great Eighteen Chorales are a set of large scale chorales arranged by Bach in his final decade which showed the ultimate in compositional techniques and workmanship for the organ chorale prelude. The Chorale motet, Chorale partita, Choral trio, ornamented chorale, and cantus firmus chorale are represented. The concert will be divided into two parts and separated by a reception.
The public is welcome, there is no admission fee and there is free parking available.
Your help is needed.
There are three Young Adult Volunteers (YAV) in San Antonio. The YAV program is run in conjunction with the Mennonite Church's DOOR (Discovering Opportunities for Outreach and Reflection) program and they are called DWELLERS. Divine Redeemer Presbyterian Church helps to sponsor them.
These ladies live in a communal setting and have been sharing a car that was loaned to them. Some of their work is in the evening when it would not be prudent to ride a bike and/or take the public bus. However, they will no longer have the car this summer.
We are asking for anyone who is willing to loan a car for about 3 months to the Dwellers to contact DOOR. Also, if you know of anyone who would be willing to donate a car to DOOR/DWELL, please pass this information to them as well.
For more information, please contact Danielle Miller, Director of DOOR at 210-534-2064. For further information about DWELL or DOOR, here is the website.

Calling all volunteers!
All are welcome!
MSPC participates in the Day and Night Fiesta parades, on April 23 and 24, and selling tickets, setting up and taking down chairs at the parade site.
The profit we make from the sale of the parade tickets goes exclusively to mission trips, for scholarships and for in-kind gifts to the mission organizations sponsoring our mission trips.
This is a labor intensive but profitable venture. Labor is required only for a limited periods of time.
For the Friday day parade, April 23rd, we need volunteers from 8 a.m. till about 11:00 am. We'll be taking chairs to the parade site. You can either stay for the parade, or go your merry way until about 3 p.m. when we return to take down the chairs and return to church.
For the Saturday night parade, April 24th, volunteers arrive at the church about 4:30 p.m., returning to the parade site about 10:30 p.m., to return chairs to the church, finishing about 12:30 a.m.
We need all the volunteers we can get!
Please volunteer to help with one or both of the parades!
And volunteers can enjoy the parade for free! (FYI, Parade tickets are $10/ticket.)
Please call or email Rebecca B., 379-6266, ; Micaela R., ; or Jim B., for more information and to volunteer!
Thanks!
Rebecca B., Mission Chairperson
The PEACE initiative
(acronym for Putting an End to Abuse through Community Efforts) is sponsoring Jaclyn Friedman who will be speaking about her new book. The event is April 11 from 7pm until 10pm. at MSPC.
