Listening For God:
Contemporary Literature And The Life

Where do you listen for God?
Each volume of Listening for God includes excerpts from the works

Dear friends, our government is bringing over
20 Afghani students for one month, 10/20 to 11/21,
to expose them to the hospitality and heart of
America.
This is the LINC program, “Linking individuals, knowledge and cultures”
I am looking for host families for these high
school students. As a host family, you would
be asked to provide a bed for your student, provide
3 meals a day, and help ensure your student takes
part in all scheduled activities. We are
hoping host families can provide carpool one day
a week each of those 4 weeks. Let me know
if you’d be interested in this experience.
Thanks! Rebecca
Wills
and Bequests
Had it not been for the care and generosity
of some members of Madison Square Presbyterian
Church, whose wills provided for our on-going
needs, a lot of what we pretty much take for
granted now, we wouldn’t have. Now
it’s our turn to provide as much care as
we can for the future generations of this wonderful
church we call “home.” On Sunday,
September 16, 2007, two people will be present
to help us.
Ann
Earnest, who lives in Houston, represents the
Presbyterian Foundation, the entity of our denomination
which holds and does a fabulous job of managing
the money Madison Square has in savings. She
has a lot of good and really practical suggestions
about how you can help future generations of
members.
Bill Goodman is a San Antonio attorney,
whom many of you already know, whose professional
focus is on wills and bequests. One of
his areas of special expertise has to do with
the wills of same-sex partners. And, by
the way, if you have some friends who are in
same-sex relationships and would like help with
their wills, please invite them – they
don’t have to be church members.
We’ll have lunch together, then
time with Ann And Bill.

THE
PRESBYTERIAN FOUNDATION
The stewardship of giving is an endless celebration
of the unlimited blessings bestowed upon us. It
is that spirit that gave life to the Presbyterian
Foundation in 1799. The
Foundation was created to serve Christ through the accumulated resources of individuals,
churches and institutions. The Foundation does not compete with local churches
or
institutions for charitable donations, we strengthen the church by developing
gifts and managing funds on their behalf. Over $1.9B are under management
by the Presbyterian
Foundation and during 2006 more that $76 M was distributed to a vast array of
Presbyterian ministries as determined by our donors.
The Foundation established a national trust bank
in 1998 – New Covenant Trust Company, N.A.,
a wholly-owned, taxable subsidiary of the Presbyterian
Foundation. New
Covenant Trust Company can act as trustee, serve as investment manager, and
provide trust agency services for individuals and institutions throughout the
United States.
New Covenant Trust Company, through its NCF Investment
Department, also serves as the advisor to New Covenant
Funds, a family of mutual funds sponsored by the
Foundation and invested in accordance with the social witness principles of
the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
The local representative for the Presbyterian Foundation
is Ann Earnest, Development Officer, located in Houston
at 866-746-6730.
