Adult Education at Madison Square
DVD Series: Bill Moyers on Faith and Reason
Are fear and violence the inevitable consequence of clashing beliefs, or is a more tolerant world possible? Bill Moyers on Faith and Reason explores this question with leading thinkers on the relationships between religious fundamentalism and democracy, equality, and human rights. Bill Moyers talked with writers from around the world about Faith & Reason. His guests include Salman Rushdie, Margaret Atwood, Martin Amis, Colin McGinn, and more.
Two members of the Church Session, Clyde Hudgins and Bill Walker, have been named to the Adult Education Committee for calendar year 2007. Working with Ilene Dunn and Kenny Davis, they have prepared this survey form in an attempt to identify and determine how best to address the congregation’s most pressing needs, concerns, and interests in the area of adult education. At your earliest convenience, would you please complete the form and return it to Clyde, Bill, or the church office? You may do this either by e-mail or as “hard copy.” You may attach an additional page or pages if necessary. If you have questions or concerns, please address them to Clyde, Bill, Ilene, or Kenny. Please return your response by March 15th. Thank you in advance for your help!

Arabs and Jews Living Together in the "Oasis of Peace"
In a village between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, Jews and Palestinians live together in peace. For over 20 years, residents of the "Oasis of Peace," who are all Israeli citizens, have lived and educated their children together as equals. The village is home to a bilingual, bicultural Primary School and an internationally acclaimed conflict management program at the School for Peace.
Here are TWO opportunities for you to meet and hear Ahmad and Naomi as together they share insights and experiences about Palestinians and Jews living and working jointly.

Tune in to hear our visitors on the Ron Aaron Show, Sunday, March 11, at 7:30 A.M., on Q101.9 FM. The interview will also air March 11 on KJ-97 FM, MIX 96.1, TICKET 760 AM, WOAI, and Outlaw 92.5.
Ahmad Hijazi first came to Neve Shalom/Wahat Al-Salam in 1984 as a teenager to attend a School for Peace youth encounter workshop. It was a pivotal experience in his life. He later trained as a School for Peace facilitator. In 1992, Ahmad and his wife chose to live in Neve Shalom/Wahat Al-Salam and he served as Mayor from 1995 to 1997. Ahmad is currently the Director of Public Relations in the community and a facilitator at the School for Peace.
Naomi Mark grew up in Neve Shalom/Wahat Al-Salam, where she attended the village's bilingual, bicultural Primary School until sixth grade. As a daughter of the village and an alumna of the school system, Naomi personifies how the village and its school can effect change in Israeli society. Naomi is an inspiring example of how the second generation of Neve Shalom/Wahat Al-Salam residents is making a difference. Naomi is now in her second year of voluntary service and working with the Israel branch of Physicians for Human Rights.

Presbyterian Cluster Habitat for Humanity Spring 2007 House Build
One of the changes this year is that volunteers may work one of three different shifts:
Habitat Build Shifts:
8am-1pm
12 Noon - 4pm
8am - 4pm
MSqPC BUILD DATES
March 31 –- Saturday
April 13 –- Friday
May 12 - Saturday
MSqPC Food Service Date: May 12 - Saturday
We will also provide the food and lunchtime devotional on Saturday, May 12. I'm looking for a volunteer who will "head up" the food process. This will involve getting volunteers to agree to make the food, gathering it somewhere, getting it to the jobsite on May 12, serving it and cleaning up afterwards. The devotional is a few words of wisdom, reading a poem or something along that line, about why the day's work is a good thing for us to be involved with.
If you are interested in signing up to work on the house or leading the food/devotional process, please email Suzy Gray at SportyKid0728@yahoo.com
NOTES:
- Volunteers are expected to work the entire shift they commit to working.
- All tools are provided. Lunch and beverages are provided to volunteers on any of the shifts who are on site when it is served...around 11:45am usually.
- Wear comfortable clothes, no open toe shoes.
- If the weather is bad, assume we ARE working. Call the Habitat Weather line to verify: 223-5203, Ext. 184…on the morning you are scheduled to volunteer.
Directions to the site and the Release Form will be provided to those who sign up.

SAMMinistries is extending a call for entries for its 5th Annual
Birdhouse Contest which is becoming an annual favorite for old and young alike.
Folks of all ages are invited to build an original birdhouse from scratch, or simply decorate a ready-made one which can be found in most hobby stores. First, second and third place prizes are awarded in three different age divisions (adult, teen and youth), as well as in the special clay division.
Birdhouses must be made of wood, ceramic or metal. Paper-maché entries will not be accepted. The base must measure no more than 18 inches across, but there is no height limit. Artisans are invited to enter as many birdhouses as they want -- there is no limit!
Entries are to be delivered from 10-5 at Furniture For A Cause, 5254 Blanco Road, on one of the following days: Thursday, April 26; Friday, April 27, or Saturday, April 28.
All entries become the property of SAMMinistries for a sale and auction that will be held from 10-2 on Saturday, May 5 at Furniture For A Cause, 5254 Blanco Road. All proceeds will be used by the ministry to help provide shelter and services for the homeless.
