Beginning
Bells Class
A class for beginning bell ringers will
be offered beginning Thursday, Sep. 20th from
7:00-8:00 PM. Future meeting time and duration
will be discussed at our first meeting.
Anyone who is physically tall enough and strong enough to handle small- to medium-size
bells (ordinarily 7th graders through senior adults, although there may be exceptions)
is welcome. No music knowledge or bell-ringing skills are needed; they will be
taught.
This will be an ongoing weekly class, with primary emphasis on learning basic
music theory and developing skill in basic hand bell ringing techniques. Special
one-on-one tutoring and coaching will be available by arrangement. Although it's
hoped there will occasionally be an opportunity to perform, the goal of the class
is developing current and future ringers for the MSPC Bell Choir. Preferential
consideration will always be given to the least capable so that the MSPC Bell
Choir can give preferential consideration to the most capable.
Anyone who is interested should make every effort to attend the “Basic
Training for Rookie Ringers” workshop that’s being offered by Area
IX of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers (AGEHR) on August 25, 2007,
from 9:00 AM until 2:30 PM at University United Methodist Church in San Antonio.
Early registration deadline is August 6th; after that it’ll cost you
an extra $5. Check out the details and get a registration form at http://www.areaix.org or
pick one up on the table in the narthex after worship on Sunday.
Any questions? Call Rick or Lyn Mild (210-497-1290) or the church office.

MSPC
On-line Directory
We
continue to work on getting the most recent information
for our Online Directory.
Many of our members (and one of our pastors) have shared that they don't feel
computer literate enough to add their own photo and information.
So for the next 4-6 weeks we will have a space in the fellowship hall where you
can take a photo, look over the current information we have for you in the directory,
and then we will add the information to the web site for you.

“God Loves Everybody” – Celebrating
Diversity
A big thank you to everyone
who made Vacation Bible School at Madison Square
such a great success!
During our first session we had 60 children and
youth attend and during our second session 40!
We shared stories, sang songs, ate foods and danced
dances from around the world. We learned that God’s
message is that everyone is loved, special and
blessed. And all of this for free! Thanks to your
amazing donations of money and time!!!

Madison Square Child Development Center

Madison Square CDC- Director
Greetings from the children’s center:
Our children’s center enrollment is at a record breaking high of 62. We
have surpassed our quality capacity. We continue to remain full in all classrooms. It
has been non-stop all year round, and our waiting list continues to grow with
children waiting to register for our program.
Thanks to all our families, past and present that continues to share news of
our great program with friends and families.
Thank you for your continued prayers, God is listening!!!
With school out and the days turning warmer here are a few ideas to share with
your children:
“Talk with Chalk” - use chalk on sidewalks,
driveways, and boards to leave fun messages, and creative art work. Cool
down by washing away the chalk talk once you finish.
“Build on Books” – visit your local library
a wonderful place to cool down, relax and imagine. The library is a great
place where you can find adventure, culture, and travel in your dreams. The library
offers so much for children and adults together. A great print rich environment!!!
A Legacy of Faith-The Presbyterian Foundation
Can Help
As Presbyterians, we celebrate our faith
in many ways – through worship, mission and
sharing. Sharing our wealth, both spiritual
and material, is one of the cornerstone principles
of our Presbyterian heritage. Presbyterians
are used to reaching out and extending our blessings
beyond our own lives. As we embrace our material
blessings, we must also accept the responsibility
of Gods gifts to us. That responsibility calls
on us to be stewards of our faith and use all of
God’s gifts wisely. In response, many
Presbyterians choose to make gifts of their accumulated
resources to their church or any Presbyterian-related
institution through the Presbyterian Foundation.
In choosing to plan your giving, the Presbyterian Foundation can assist you in
reaching your stewardship goals. There are many ways to make a gift to
the Church ranging from outright gifts to simple bequests, permanent funds, and
life income plans. A life income plan administered through the Presbyterian
Foundation is a commonly used method for giving. You may make a gift of
cash, securities, or property and receive income during your lifetime or you
may designate others to receive income during their lifetime. Thereafter,
the remainder of your gift will benefit your church or any Presbyterian-related
mission cause, institution or other charitable purpose you designate.
Consider tithing your estate. The average estate in the US today is worth
$300,000. Consider the value of your estate. The average number of
children is 2.7 (round up to 3 children.) If you divide your estate between
your 3 children, each child will receive $100,000. If you tithe your estate
to your church or a Presbyterian-related entity, that institution will receive
$30,000! What a difference $30,000 or your estate tithe will make in the
life of the Church! (In this example each child would still receive $90,000.)
If you would like to consider a gift from your estate, Ann Earnest, the Houston
Development Officer with the Presbyterian Foundation can discuss options with
you which may include receiving income and taking advantage of tax deductions
when you make a gift. Ann may be reached at 713-267-5098 or toll free at 866-746-6730.
“I appointed you to go out and bear fruit that is lasting” John 15:16. Lasting
fruits are what we pass down to the next generation: our values, our ethics,
and our faith. Including the church in our estate plan is lasting fruit,
a witness to our Christian faith to the generations to come.
Ann Earnest will be speaking at MSPC September 16, 2007.
